If you are selling a vehicle you must always obtain and display a safety certificate for any registered light vehicle from the moment you offer the vehicle for sale. A safety certificate is also a requisite for unregistered used vehicles (second hand) and also registered interstate vehicles as part of the Queensland pre-registration process although there are some exemptions. Some exemptions include (but are not limited to) when the vehicle is unregistered or being traded between licensed motor dealers or When a vehicle is being sold for parts or restoration (but these must be de-registered before being offered for sale) Safety certificates must be always be displayed in a clearly visible spot on the vehicle for example:
